Drawing on the modernist literary tradition of erasure poetry, this work explores how archival narratives marginalise and render communities “undesirable.”

The series engages directly with a 1910 London magazine article, one of the earliest representation of the Liverpool Chinese community in popular media.

Demeaning phrases and passages were erased, and the remaining words reassemble into a counter narrative that gestures towards the deportations in the 1940s.
